Julia's blog

This is my blog for Language Arts Methods. I am new at blogging and I hope that I spelled blogging right. I am enjoying Block B and hope that everyone else does too. One of the books that we have read in language arts methods is The Year of Miss Agnes. I enjoyed this book and a lot so I decided to write about it in my very first blog ever. Miss Agnes is about a young girl that lives in Alaska. Every year her class at school gets a new teacher because the teachers do not enjoy life in Alaska and never stick around longer than one year. This all changes when Miss Agnes comes around. She becomes the best teacher that they have ever had, and she does several things that are examples of excellent teaching. It was an inspirational book, especially for a future teacher. I would recommend it to all teachers.

Julia,
You're right, The Year of Miss Agnes was a great book. I love your insight into the book. I too would like to be a teacher that is able to touch so many lives even with limited resources. I think Miss Agnes is a good inspiration to all teachers, and I'm glad we had the opportunity to read it. Great post!

I agree with you Julia, it is a great book. So much that I wrote my blog about it too! I hope to have the same affect on my students that she had on hers. I think it is so great that she could turn those students attitudes about school around so quickly by being firm but still caring.

I also enjoyed the book. I thought that it gave a different spin on school as well as teaching. I liked how that they are setting in some what present time and still are in a one room school house. I think all of us in Block B should aspire to be more like Miss Alice in the coming student teaching semester.

Hey Julia,
Happy Friday night! Yes, it's Friday night and I'm doing homework. :( Anyway, I just read your blog and I could not agree with you more. I loved Ms. Agnes! She was such a good role model...to only to her students but to future teachers like you and me! I hope to teach with as much passion as she does someday. I really am glad this is one of the books we had to read for Language Arts...it really was a good read!!

Julia,
I really loved Miss Agnes too! I kept some notes about her teaching ideas to incorporate into my future classroom. One of my goals as a teacher is to strive everyday to be more and more like her. I hope that all who read it really take the time to think about it!

Hi Julie. This is Kari. I don't know what to say but this is my assignment so I am responding to you. I just wanted to say that I think that you were born to be a teacher because you have the "teacher look." That's a good thing- most of the time I just have the "confused look."
